TeamTrump's obsession with outing the Whistleblower has become ever more hysterical as the general public becomes ever more informed as to just what was wrong with President Trump's "Perfect Phone Call" with Ukrainian President Zelenskiy way back on July 25th (ukno, the day after Robrrt Mueller's Congressional testimony).
So much more of this scheme - a long con, if you will - so much more has been reveled of late that weeks before public hearings even began the polls had "impeach AND remove", leading both "just impeach" and Trump's base.
When Trump roped everyone who was on his "Perfect Phone Call" (tppc™) into his criminal abuse of power, he left each of them with the choice of either going along with the extortion or raising a red flag - which in this case is so apropos that it's literal. Thankfully, there were lots of red flags raised. Unfortunately, it seems that the administrative state can easily bury the crime where the sun don't shine. And it can remain buried unless someone either digs it up, or lets others know what needs to be dug up.
Enter Whistleblower#1.
Although not a tppc™ party-line member, Whistleblower #1 had seen so many red flags raised regarding the call that, on August 12th, (s)he issued a complaint with the Intelligence Community's Inspector General, Michael K. Atkinson. ICIG Atkinson quickly found this complaint credible, but the administrative state, in the guise of acting Director of National Intelligence, Joseph Maguire, buried ICIG Atkinson's Whistleblower complaint in the "Justice" Department - where AG Barr would do his damnedest to ensure it would never see the light of day.
By law, however, the DNI, acting or not, shall transmit ICIG reports to Congressional intelligence committees and there is nothing in the law regarding the transmission of ICIG reports to Congressional intelligence committees where the "Justice" Department is given a say in the matter.
Maguire, an inexperienced political loyalist.assumed the role as acting DNI on August 15th, three days after ICIG Atkinson received the WB's complaint. Coincidence, I'm sure. Maguire replaced DNI Dan Coats, who had served as DNI since March 2017, and was known for not distorting intelligence to fit Trump's agenda. Trump fired Coats, by tweet, just three days after tppc™(again, coincidence, I'm sure), and insisted that the Deputy Director not take his place (h/t The Guardian)
But on September 9th, IG Atkinson blew the whistle on Barr, Maguire and TeamTrump when he informed Congress about the existence of the WB's complaint, and where it was buried. The resultant uproar from lawmakers forced Trump, on September 11th, to release the funding.
So there are actually two Whistleblowers who altered duly appointed officals as to serious wrongdoings by TeamTrump - one whose identity is protected by law and another whose position should provide any requisite protection. But "should provide" is insufficient to protect against the basic criminal nature of TeamTrump: they even distain protection by law.
At its corse, TrumpCo is a RICO, and Donald J is more like a mob boss than a real estate mogul. That would be his dad. Protection/extortion are base components of traditional racketeering, so one shouldn't be surprised that, fundamentally, Ukraine-gate is emblemic of a protection/extortion scheme. In this case what makes it a "high crine" is that its intent was to abuse Congressionally appropriated funds to further the personal domestic political goals of Donaljd J Trump instead of furthering the national security of the USofA.
Over a period of months, TeamTrump had let it be known that for Ukraine to receive vital military hardware (qid), President Zelenskiy had to make a public statement to the effect that an investigation into blah blah blah...(pro quo). So desperate was Zalenski for the qid that he apparently agreed to not only do the quo, he would do so on an internationally broadcast news program - CNN's "Fareed Zakaria GPS"
Imaginethe impact. For all the world to see and hear, Zelenskiy would have given credence to the absurd CT that it was Ukrainians who not only hacked the DNC server in 2016 but also had physical possession of it. Oh yea, and something about the Bidens and corruption. Also. Imagine how TeamTrump would have spun this for their minions: Proof that it wasn't the Russians who executed the hack; Proof that it was all a deep state conspiracy against TeamTrump; and Proof that it's the Democrats who collude with foreigners to interfere in US Ielections. Oh yea, and proof that the Bidens are corrupt.
To TeamTrump, having Zelenskiy merely insinuate that, well, blah blah blah... was pivotal to their plans for winning reelection.
Of course if Zelenskiy had made the intended statement, it would not have been proof of any of those assertions. But that matters little to TeamTrump and its minions, neither of whom have a positive relationship with truth. What matters most to them is winning the moment and evening the score for perceived slights.
One thing's for sure, though. If the two WBs had not intervened and Zelenskiy had made that statement on CNN, we would not now be at the dawn of the public ImpeachTrump proceedings.
No, we would be in a far more perilous place.
This is why TeamTrump wants to out both WBs - one from his job and the other from... well, anonymity - at least. Because to criminals, people who inform on crimes need to punished - snitches get stitches. The fact that such an attitude is proof of both a guilty mind and flagrant criminal intent escapes the criminally minded - ukno, like when Trump "muses" about firing Atkinson…
TeamTrump was just days away from closings a months long con that would have netted them the dirt they love to waddle in. Dirt that they could use to further TeamTrump's agenda even when it runs counter to the best interest of the nation. Dirt that they could toss about to dirty up everybody else so that they look cleaner by comparison.
But just days away from the pay(off)dirt that would be worth its weight in political gold - or the blood of Ukrainians murdered by TeamTrump's BFF, St Pete Vlad - ICIG Atkinson raised a red flag about the buried WB's complaint and TeamTrump had to abandon their nefarious narcissistic scheme. Too late to escape being caught red-handed, though.
Even better, President Zelenskiy, who held out as long as he could - and far longer than he should have been forced to - was able to get the military aid without having to succumb to TeamTrump's extortion.
Still better, Trump gets impeached - maybe even removed.
But best of all, chasing a bogus CT will be the downfall of a presidency that was founded upon chasing a bogus CT - birtherism
What goes around, comes around...
